MICHAEL TESKE | CO-FOUNDER OF SPACE JUICE COLLECTIVE

Normally I write this in third person, but Michael has been i’m pretty sure my longest friend I have ever had. We grew up together in the same school district since elementary school, that marks 23 years of knowing one another. At this point I consider him a brother. One of the very few friends that stuck around to see how I grew in my craft over a span of 11 years.

He is a powerhouse creative, he is too humble to say that himself but his laidback & chill persona is what makes Michael, Michael. The intricacies of his mind are expressed in his work. Bright colors & unique characters all made from his imagination. Watching his craft evolve across many mediums from film photography, painting on train figurines, painting plant pots, murals, to stretching his own canvases with the other members in his collective; there’s one thing that stands out to me and that’s consistency yet not afraid to experiment. Growing and evolving in each chapter.

I remember one day on lunch break in high school we went over to Ryans (a member of space juice collective) backyard and Michael was spray painting on Saran Wrap stretched between two porch pillars; That’s just as an example as how frequently he was creating & the spontaneity of his creativity.

What has blown my mind to see and this has amazed me with all my creative friends ive known more than 10 years is watching their art age & mature with grace. It started out with funky characters & traditional lettering going by Vogon/Vogonism an alien character he could relate to at the time. To now partnering up with our friend Ryan, with his abstract still vibrant & funky yet more settle & tranquil approach to his spray painting. His fine art showing years of experimentation & technique. I look forward to seeing how they both grow in the coming years and have enjoyed watching every chapter thus far.

Michael, thank you for sharing your light with everyone that crosses your path and showing support through out the years from showing your art at all the first Friday I ran at numerous kava bars, inviting me to participate in shows with you, and always being down to be apart of my manic last minute photography projects. Cheers to many more years of friendship.
